Current Skin Care Routine feat. Laneige

Just this semester, I have been paying more attention to my skin. Every time after I shower, I realised how dry and flaky my skin gets especially on the temple area. And because they look disgusting, I wash my forehead with water and rub them to no avail. Incidentally, I saw a post on Ateneo Trade (my university's buy and sell Facebook group) selling a cheaper price for the Laneige trial kits. I've heard of the brand before but I didn't know much about it. I don't even know much about skin care then! I made my research and found that the brand is really good at moisturising your skin (which is what I need), and their endorsers are Song Hye-Ko (see also Kang Mo-yeon of Descendants of the Sun) and Lee Sung-kyoung (see also Kim Bok-joo). I was sold!

Lineage Kit <3

A little about the brand, Laneige is a Korean skin care brand that is owned by Amorepacific who also owns other big Korean skin care and cosmetic brands such as Etude House, and Innissfree. The brand name means "the snow" in French and it embodies the products formula and texture being water-based. It is actually no surprise how the product works well for my skin! Further, Lineage has a variety of skin care products to best suit its wide arrange of customers. What I like the most though is the fact that they have trial kits which comes in small packages! Their products are quite pricey so if you want to use their products without any commitment then the trial kits are for you!

I bought the Basic Care Moisture Trial Kit, and the Water Bank Moisturising Kit for my morning and night routine respectively. But for this blog post, I will just be talking about the Basic Care Moisture Kit!

Morning Skin Care Routine feat. Laneige Basic Care Moisture Kit

Basic Care Moisture Kit

Skin Refiner Moisture

1. Essential Power: Skin Refiner Moisture. This is a toner. I did not know when I started using it so I've been spreading it on my face like a moisturiser until I realised it doesn't seem to be working like how I hoped it would. Given that it is a toner, you should use a cotton pad to wipe the product on your face for it to collect dirt. I use this every after my morning shower when I have already washed my face with my cleanser. I've tried a few toners and by far, this has the thickest consistency still watery though. That's probably why I didn't know it was a toner. Hahaha. I love this though because it smells so good! Most of the Laneage products I have smell so good actually. It also leaves a cooling sensation on my face and it's not drying unlike other toners I've tried before so it's really good for those with dry skin.

Emulsion Moisture

2. Essential Balancing: Emulsion Moisture. I've never tried emulsions before so this is my first. After putting on the toner, this makes my face feel warmer. It's most likely because it has thick consistency and feels a lot like a sticky lotion. I don't really have much to say about this but at least it moisturises my face. I'm not sure however if it's clogging my pores or not, because I realised that my pores are now more noticeable than it was before. One thing I hate the most about this though is its packaging. It came in a bottle and because of its thick consistency, it does not easily pour out of it. I had to shake it up and down for the product to come out. Further, because its a sticky product, it is not easy to spread on my face so I have to put a lot of it for my skin not to feel irritated from my hand trying to spread the product. I would've preferred if it came in a squeeze bottle. My favourite of course is its scent! Really smells good!

Night Skin Care Routine feat. Laneige Water Bank Moisture Kit

Water Bank Essence

1. Water Bank Essence. I love this! It feels so refreshing on the face. I put it on a few minutes after my night toner. It has a thin consistency so it is really easy to spread on the face and it smells really good as well. When you spread it on your face, it creates this cooling sensation that makes your face feel really relaxed. I also gently press the formula on my face after I spread it so the nutrients will go in and not just sit on my skin. After I put it on, my skin feels really soft and fresh. I love this, okay?!

2. Water Bank Eye Gel. Another product from the kit I totally love! I have really bad dark (red) circles so this eye gel is a blessing to my life. Just after few days of using it, I noticed that my eyes were looking better and more alive. My circles were literally a tone lighter from what they usually are and I think it's amazing. It makes me look less pale. It's also really soothing although I caution you to only put a little since applying too much makes it feel heavy on the skin, and the under eye skin is very thin and sensitive. To apply the gel, I squeeze a little on my finger and make dots on the under eye part. After, I press them gently on the skin then spread them sideways until the outer side of the eye. I then do the same to the other eye.

Water Bank Moisture Cream

3. Water Bank Moisture Cream. My least favourite of the bunch sadly. Mainly because it has a thick consistency and I find it very hard to spread on my face thus I tend to apply a lot just so I can spread them easily. With that, it feels heavy on the face, and oddly it feels very warm as well. Most likely because it is heavy, but still I find it uncomfortable. Also when I apply the cream, my cheeks tend to get red (which I think is because of the struggle of spreading the cream). I love the smell though! It smells really good, and I think it is effective. It does not irritate my skin (no rashes, no itchiness, and the likes). It's just really the thick consistency, and the struggle to apply it well.

Water Bank Gel Cream

4. Water Bank Gel Cream. Before I used the kit, I already had a prejudice with the gel cream. I watched Laneige's tutorial video, and learned that the gel cream works best for oily skin. I do not have an oily skin, at all. So I assumed this wouldn't work for me. But when I tried to use it, it actually felt really good and it still kept my face moisturised as well! I also love that it's the end of the routine because it's such a breath of fresh air coming from the moisture cream. It has a thin consistency given it's a gel. And it gives this cooling sensation. Such a nice product to end the routine, especially after you pressed it gently on your skin and you can feel the nutrients sip into your skin.

Laneige is an amazing skin care brand, and it really works for my skin. Both kits last around a month or two. I got both kits last February 24 (2017), and they're still not empty. They're 1/2 to 3/4 empty though. I guess the downside with Laneige is its price. As a student, I can't afford their products at all. The kits are rather affordable though but I'm not sure if it has good value given a one to two month usage only.

I'm still debating whether I should order the kits again, or try different (hopefully affordable) products.

Yours truly,

Tanya
