A Beautiful Hope

during my photoshoot for a blog photo

Hello! For my first blog post, I'd like to talk about how this came to be. I thought it's only appropriate for me to tell you why I made a blog in the first place for you to understand more about the content of the blog and what it means to me and what it could mean to you. So here goes...

I've always wanted to start a blog ever since I was in high school, and I've actually had a few blogs before in different hosting platforms - tumblr, blogspot, and wordpress. I've basically entered every platform possible however, I wasn't able to maintain the blogs due to my busy schedule and lack of motivation to continue. Although I still barely have time for leisure because of academics and other activities, I thought it is time for me to actually pursue blogging. As to why, the blog name says it all - Belle Sperare.

I'm sure a lot of people know what belle means; it means beauty in Italian. Sperare, on the other hand, only a handful of people knows what it means and where it originated. Sperare means hope in Latin. I've come across this word when I was still in high school, I was part of the chorale and we usually sing Church songs. One of those songs were "A Prayer to St. Francis of the Assisi" - a song with English and Latin parts. The line from the song that struck me most was "dove ci e disperazione, sperare" which translates to "where there is despair, hope". Ever since, it has been my mantra. And it got me out off tough times. Now, I'm living through another storm due to none other than academics. The semester has been asking so much from me, and I've felt like losing it more than a hundred times ever since the semester starts. I thought it is time to channel the inner hopeful in me to fight against the current, and keep the hope that I can get through this.

With this hope of surviving through the storm, I thought to myself "why don't I do something to keep the positivity in this very toxic period?", thus the blog. This blog will serve as platform for me to document the little things that make me happy in life, things I am interested in. Also, this blog will serve as a reminder for me not to focus too much on my academics to the point where it ruins my relationships (as it almost happened so thank you for sticking by me). Instead, I will start new hobbies, and learn new skills to which I will document through this blog. I will start doing what I have always wanted to do but have put off due to my "highest" priority - academics (oh acads!). This does not mean however that I disregard my academics. It is simply a gentle reminder that the world does not end if I don't get an A. There is so much to learn outside the classroom!

I hope this blog will also serve as a reminder to you to see beauty, and most especially to keep hoping especially when it feels like all hope is gone.

Hope makes us see the beauty in life; hope is beautiful.

Yours truly,

Tanya

PS: Last Friday, I attended a crochet workshop and although I'm still bad at crocheting, I'm really enjoying it! ♥
